Dear Carolyn,

At this time of the year, one of my most favorite activities with clients is to pause and reflect on the year that has passed. I know that the idea of reflection is not new. But I also know that many of us just don't do it enough. So many of us are wired to "do, act, keep moving forward don't look back."

The other thing I see clients doing frequently is focusing on the misses, the losses, and the unaccomplished goals. Just like a golf game, our brains are somehow trained to think only about the shots that we missed and not about the amazing shots that we made.

Commit this 2020 to intentionally start training your brain to be equally aware of all of the amazing things you have done, the people you have positively impacted and the things we can be grateful for. Take stock of your "champagne moments."

If you have read this far I challenge you. Pause RIGHT NOW. Grab a notebook, a pen and set a timer for three minutes. Pause, reflect and write on the following questions. GO!

  1. At this moment what are you celebrating? What is a Champagne Moment or a Memorable Moment you might consider taking the time to toast surrounded by loved ones during the holiday season?
  2. Who is someone special in your life that is quite meaningful to you? How have they impacted you? What's a special way you could recognize them this holiday season?
  3. What are the three things you are most grateful for 2019?
  4. What will you say no or yes to this holiday season to give yourself a Healthy Holiday? (just had to throw this one in!)

What did you notice? Did you have any aha moments? How's the "2019 golf game" looking/feeling now? What are you most proud of?

E-mail me what you noticed!!

Set the intention in 2020 to notice and count your wins just a little more frequently.

Happy, Happy Holidays and a Joyous New Year to you and your loved ones!

Wishing you all the best in 2020 and beyond!

Sincerely,

Carolyn de Voest
