“If I had 5 million dollars…..”
Start your 2014 planning by considering the following question “If you had 5 million dollars cash to invest into your company or your career tomorrow, what would you change?” When thinking about what would be different consider: people, technology, marketing, geography, space, professional development, team training etc. Write about it!
Now that I have your attention! A few BYB updates for you!
BYB is pleased to welcome a new addition to our coaching team Catharine Chang!
Once people start coaching one of the first things they say to me after their Discovery Session is “this stuff is awesome, can you work with my spouse?” Ideally in every case I would love to say yes. However the reality is for coaching to be powerful the relationship between client and coach has to be based on “non-attachment to outcome;” so technically this means that coaching a couple or a partnership is not an ideal situation.
Luckily enough for BYB Catharine came along. What is so exciting about Catharine is her varied work experience, her passion for coaching and her commitment to her own professional development. I call Catharine the velvet nail. She has a huge smile and sparkles all the time which may lead some to believe that she may be a bit to gentle. However I have experienced firsthand the power of Catharine’s curiosity and ability to be fierce with her questions. It’s just this subtle directness that I love about Catharine. Read my about Catharine’s experience and education here.
We would like for all of the spouses of BYB clients to at least try coaching so that they can have a better idea of what it is all about and what exactly happens in a typical coaching session. If you think that this is something your spouse would be interested in sampling just say the word by either mentioning it in your next coaching call or having your spouse e-mail Catharine directly Catharine@betteryourbest.ca to set up their complimentary call.
Performing Under Pressure
Have you ever considered how you could get your team to perform better under pressure? When businesses experience rapid growth teams get stretched. Why not find out what your team is made of to better capitalize on their strengths? After researching numerous personality assessments I’ve finally found that I really like “Trimetrics EQ.” It’s actually a combination of three assessments that helps you better understand your teams:
Behaviors-strengths/weaknesses through four dimensions: dominance, influence, steadiness & compliance
Motivators-we’re not all motivated by money so start understanding the “why” behind your employees decision making and how to get them to work more effectively
Emotional Intelligence-this will tell you just how self-aware each employee is.

Enjoy your last few days of October and have a wonderful Halloween!! All the best! CD
